Love is in the air!

Namaste Loving Friends

As Valentine’s Day draws to an end its a wonderful opportunity to open this months post and talk about our beautiful hearts.

The heart is the place where we live our passions.  It is frail and easily broken, but wonderfully resilient.  There is no point in trying to deceive the heart. It depends upon our honesty for its survival.

The fourth Chakra or Heart Chakra is the seat of unconditional love, compassion, joy and emotional wisdom.  In Sanskrit it is known as ‘Anahata Chakra’ meaning, ‘Unbeaten,’ ‘Unhurt’ or ‘Unstruck’.

It rests in the centre of the Chakra System at the core of our spine, integrating the world of matter (the lower three Chakras) with the world of the spirt (the upper three Chakras).  Our spiritual growth, the nature of our relationships with others, the feelings of peace, contentment and harmony, all these aspects of everyday living are integrated with Anahata Chakra.

Related to the element of Air, a balanced heart Chakra is the reason for the free flowing prana (life force) in the body and smooth blood circulation.  An imbalanced Heart Chakra on the contrary, is the reason for heart problems, emotional, instability and inability to express love or repression of love.  Our hearts become closed and hard.  We have trouble in loving ourselves and we are afraid to love others.  Many issues of love, grief, hatred, anger, jealousy, fears or betrayal, of loneliness as well as the ability to heal ourselves and others are centred in the fourth Chakra.

To expand the heart Chakra practice Shoulder Openers,  Arm Positions and Backbends. Empowering us with the ability to surrender and let go with trust.

The rose has strong symbolic connections with the heart Chakra.  In the West, the rose is considered to be the most beautiful of flowers, a symbol of completion, perfection, the mystic centre and representative of the heart itself. (Often given to loved ones on Valentine’s Day).

“The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart.”

I hope you have all had a special day, enjoy the flow of your practice and each time you step on your mat, remember it is a sacred space for you to grow and transform!!

With love, hearts and roses to you all.

My yoga blessings
